View mode that works

A dashboard you were shared used to be a picture: live numbers, but nothing you could do with them. Change the period? Ask what drove a spike? Get told when it moves? All of that meant Edit mode — which most readers don't have, and shouldn't need. View mode now does the reading half of the job properly, and dashboards open in it by default.

Filters you can change without changing anyone's dashboard

The filter row is live in View. Change the period, change a value, add a filter, drop one — the numbers follow, and nobody else sees a thing. Pills you've changed are outlined in blue, and the row ends with a reminder — Only you see these filters — and a Reset to the dashboard's next to it.

Your filters last as long as you're on the page. Reload it and you're back to the dashboard as its author set it up, so a number you screenshot is never quietly narrowed by a filter you forgot you set.

The same goes for clicking a point on a chart and choosing Hide: the value you hid becomes one of your own filters, visible as a pill you can take off again — rather than an invisible change to a chart.

Axi answers about a dashboard you can only read

The Axi panel opens in View, and on every KPI and chart the ✨ asks about the widget instead of offering to edit it. Ask what drove a number, what a metric means, what changed — the same answers as in Edit.

What it won't do is change the board. The tools that add, edit, move or delete widgets aren't available to it there; ask for a new chart and it'll say so and point you at Edit. That holds for anyone with view-only access to a dashboard, whichever mode they're in.

Alerts from View

The bell on a KPI or chart is in both modes now. Watching a number isn't changing a dashboard, so anyone who can open one can set an alert or a scheduled report on it.

Dashboards open in View

A dashboard you open is a dashboard you're reading, so that's the mode you land in — unless you've just created it, which opens in Edit since there's nothing to read yet. After that, Axiome remembers where you left each one.
