The KPI editor, as a recipe

A KPI's editor now reads the way the chart editor does — Show a number, Only under some conditions, Compared with something, and its Appearance — with the KPI beside it as the dashboard draws it, and both numbers side by side underneath.

The chart editor, as a recipe

The chart editor used to speak the engine's language — X-axis, Y-axis, Color By, CDistinct, Count of Records — and it only took the fields you dragged from a long list of tables. It now reads as a short recipe you complete — Show a measure, Per a breakdown, Split by a category — with the chart beside it, drawn as you go.

View mode that works

A dashboard you were shared used to be a picture: live numbers, but nothing you could do with them. Change the period? Ask what drove a spike? Get told when it moves? All of that meant Edit mode — which most readers don't have, and shouldn't need. View mode now does the reading half of the job properly, and dashboards open in it by default.

A denser board

Widget titles used to sit on the card's border, floating over the outline — which meant every widget needed a margin above and below it just to give the title somewhere to live. That margin is gone, the title has moved inside the card as its first line, and the whole board has tightened onto one spacing scale. KPIs got a shape of their own along the way.

Filters in plain words

A tab's filters used to be read in pieces: a date pinned to one end of the row, a little number stuck to the corner of a pill, and a second popover to find out what it counted. The row now reads left to right, as a sentence — This year · Country France — and a brand-new dashboard opens on a question instead of a blank board.

One panel, on the right

A dashboard could lose room on both sides at once: a rail and its panel on the left, the Axi chat on the right, and a floating button on top of the corner. There is now one panel, on the right, with four tabs — and the board gets its left edge back.

A dashboard with one title

A dashboard used to carry its name twice — an input in the top bar and a big heading on the page, both editing the same thing — and a fixed footer at the bottom that mostly repeated what the header already said. The top bar now says where you are, the page says what it is, and the three menu entries that did nothing do the thing they promise.

Axi offers a starting point

An empty chat used to be a blank box and a tip that typed itself out, one at a time, and disappeared the moment you clicked in. On Home and in the dashboard panel, Axi now offers three things worth asking — and clicking one asks it.

What Axi read, kept with the answer

While Axi works it narrates what it is reading — Read 14 columns of orders, Sampled 50,000 rows. Until now those lines disappeared the moment the answer arrived, which is roughly when you might want to look at them. They now stay.
