Histograms, funnels, and Sankey diagrams

Three new chart types join bars, lines, areas, scatter, and pie: histograms for the shape of a number, funnels for drop-off between stages, and Sankey diagrams for flows between fields. Same editor, same drag-and-drop.

Histogram

Drop a numeric field — order value, delivery time, age — and Axiome splits it into round-number bins and counts the rows in each — or, in the Style tab, into exactly the number of bins you ask for. Every row counts, not a sample: the bins are computed by your warehouse under the chart's filters, so the shape you see is the whole distribution. Drop a measure instead of the default count to aggregate something else per bin, split the bars with Color by, and set the number of bins in the Style tab. Clicking a bin explores the rows inside it or filters the whole range out.

Funnel

Drop the field holding your stages and a value, and read the drop-off at a glance. Bars print the value, the share of the first stage, or the share of the previous one; hovering shows all three. Stages come largest-first by default, or in your own order when they carry one ("1. Visit", "2. Sign-up").

Sankey

Flows between two to five fields — origin to destination, channel to plan to status — drawn as ribbons proportional to the value flowing through them. Hover a ribbon to read the share it takes of its source and of its target, click a node to explore or filter it, and recolor nodes from the Style tab. Only the biggest flows are drawn on busy data, with a limit you can adjust.

A clearer chart type picker

The type picker in the chart editor now shows every type in one grid with a one-line description of the type you hover, and switching keeps your setup: a bar chart's X-axis becomes a funnel's stage, its X-axis and Color by become a Sankey's first two stages. Axi builds the new types too — ask for a histogram of order values or a Sankey from acquisition channel to plan.
