A map of your data, where you build
The data map is no longer a diagram of columns in a dialog. It shows your tables the way you build with them — what each one holds, how they join, and what your chart or your dashboard already uses — and it opens where you are: over the chart in the chart, KPI and table editors, and over the board from the dashboard's Data panel.
Tables that say what they hold
Each table is a card: its name, what it is, and what it holds in the recipe's words — 4 metrics · 1 date · 2 categories — then the fields your workspace charts most. Joins read as sentences: rest the pointer on the line between two tables to read Each row of transactions belongs to one row of stores. Search looks through the names and descriptions of tables and fields, and a table's details list all its fields by role, its keys and its joins.
In the editors
Open the map from the ⋯ menu, from the bottom of the field list, or from a field's details: it covers the chart and keeps the recipe beside it. The tables your chart uses are ringed, their fields show their step, and a table that can't be combined with your measure is greyed out with the reason. Click a field to add it where it fits, or drag it onto a step.
On the dashboard
The Data panel is now the map's list: the tables this dashboard uses come first, and each one opens on its fields by role. Click a field to filter the tab by it — its filter opens in the filter row, ready for a value. New chart, on a metric or a table's count, adds a chart of it and opens its editor. Open the map lays the same tables out over the board, where a table's details offer New chart from … and Ask Axi, which puts a question about the table in Axi's box for you to send.
On a big connection
A connection with dozens of tables no longer draws as a wall of cards. The map draws the tables you use, the ones joined to them and the ones your workspace charts most, and counts the rest underneath — Show all draws them too, and search finds any of them. Zoom out and each table keeps its name while its fields fade to outlines. A table's details count its rows when you ask, and on a connection that reads several datasets or schemas, a picker narrows the map to one.
From Axi's answers
When Axi names one of your tables, the name is a link to the map: in Edit it opens the map over the board on that table, and inside a chart, KPI or table editor it opens the editor's own map.
