Connection settings on a page, connection health in the rail

The connection form is no longer a dialog. Each connection's Settings is a page in three sections, and the Data rail now tells you at a glance how big each connection is and whether it works.

The rail knows your connections

Every connection in the rail of Settings → Admin → Data now shows:

  • its size — how many schemas or datasets it covers and how many tables they hold;
  • its semantic coverage — dbt models, metrics and virtual models, when there are any;
  • its health — Connected, Failed or Not tested, with how long ago the last test ran.

Health is remembered: the result of Test connection is stored on the connection, and Axiome also tests the credentials when you create a connection or change them. Nothing is probed just because you opened the page.

Settings as a page

A connection's Settings is now one page with Test connection and Save at the top:

  • General — name, description, and a switch to make it the default connection.
  • Credentials — where the data lives and how Axiome signs in. The type is fixed once created; a successful test lists the schemas or datasets it can see.
  • Schemas (or Datasets) — the ones Axi can see, as chips. The first one is primary; add more from the list a test returns.
  • Danger zone — delete the connection.

Adding a connection uses the same page: pick a source in the catalog and you land on a new-connection page for that type.
