BigQuery nested fields and flatten models on the table page
On a BigQuery connection, the table page in Settings → Admin → Data now shows nested fields as rows of their own and keeps flatten models next to the table they come from.
Nested and repeated fields
A STRUCT field is a row named by its dotted path, payment.total_cents, with the same roles, inspector and filters as any other column. A field inside a repeated ARRAY carries a [ ] marker — queries unnest it — and once that array is flattened into a model, the marker names the model and links to its page, where the array's fields belong.
Flatten models in the tree
A flatten model sits under its parent table in the table tree, with its Virtual badge. Create model, at the bottom of the tree, opens with the table you are viewing preselected as the parent and lands on the new model once it exists.
